Regulars [if there are such out there] will notice visual change of this blog. Actually, it is a consequence of change of blog engine. Previous one didn't have any real protection against spam and I got tired of deleting ads for Viagra, gambling, porn etc. in form of comments. Republishing was a painful process, but I didn't want to deny the world of my previous rambling.
Speaking of republishing...
During that process I was checking links used in my articles, and to my surprise lot of news sites [especially of Rupert Murdock’s empire] switched to archives you have to pay for, although the current issue is free. It is beyond my comprehension what economic benefit is there for such sites [don’t they (media in general) live on advertisements], but it makes linking [so important part of writing for web] much more harder. On the other hand fact is that I found most of the articles which are out of reach unless you are willing to pay for them on some other sites. And that makes the whole thing simply stupid.
Although we have news [and breaking news] every day nothing much changed in the world in these few months.
Genocide in Iraq is continuing, just as torture in Baghram airbase, Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo bay and undisclosed number of secret prisons worldwide [some of them eventually in "New Europe"]. World is definitively safer place as a retard in the White House is stubbornly claiming. Almost every day we have some confirmation of that fact, most recent [big one] Amman, Jordan. Small one two days ago in the city I’m living in: "Yes, Mr Bush I’m feeling much safer. Thank you. Now please go to your Texas ranch and exercise riding a bike and leave human race alone."
On a second thought... there are some new developments. US Army is bragging openly about war crimes which include chemical weapons [you guess white phosphorus story]. Torture is about to enter US laws. And [at] last puppets of Iraq are ready to talk with insurgents [just with those who are killing Americans and Brits. For now]. It was about time. US Army is speaking with them on regular bases for a long time.* So, why Iraqis shouldn’t speak between themselves?

* Just don’t tell me you believe in "we will never negotiate/bend/speak to terrorists" crap.

Istanbul, Constantinople, Tsarigrad (call it as you like, just don’t bomb it, please), with all clichés attached to her (‘capital of three empires, ‘bellybutton of the world’, ‘refuge of the universe’, etc.) is a perfect observation platform for watching the World. Its misshapes, misfortunes, miseries and misunderstandings. Here one is always aware that nothing lasts forever – especially not empires.
